Passionate About Inspiring Others
I am Josh Mehaffey. I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and live in Orono, Minnesota. I was born on Christmas day, December 25, 2000. I love having my birthday on Christmas because I get double presents. I went to a private Christian school until 6th grade when I transferred to a public school. I love to play sports it is one of my favorite thing to do. I play football, baseball, and basketball. I played ping pong as a club sport. I love to wakesurf. It is one of my favorite activities to do in the summer.
I have a boat that I love to go on. My friends and I go on the lake every day during the summer to surf. Summers in Minnesota are extremely nice. It is around 85 degrees every day so it is perfect to be able to be comfortable outside. Surfing in Minnesota is huge. It is a major part of the atmosphere and carisma of the state.

I have always been an extroverted kid. Ever since I was a kid I have always had a lot of energy and have always been very outgoing. I love being around people and interacting. I am a very social person and prefer to be with friends than to be alone. Because of my charismatic character traits and social skills, I want to be a salesman when as my profession. I have always been told that I would be a good salesman so that is the career choice I have chosen so far. I feel like I would make a great salesman but I still don't know for sure if that is the direction I am going to go. I am going to see how my mindset changes over the next few years. I don't like planning out my future and having a set in stone plan. I like to wing it and see where my life takes me.

However, I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for 9 months of my life spent in Utah from January 27th, 2018 - October 31, 2018. During that time I was in a treatment facility in St. George Utah called Eagle Ranch Academy. Before I went there my life was not in the right place. I was going down a very negative path and didn't know what to do to help myself. I was doing drugs all the time, I had very bad anger issues, I skipped school constantly and was failing all my classes, I had a very unhealthy relationship with my parents, and had a problem with stealing. I saw that I was digging myself a major hole and was drowning by the choices I was making. I discussed options with my mom and decided to go to Eagle Ranch. I spent 9 months there making myself a better person and learning how to make the right decisions. Going to treatment saved my life and I would not be writing this blog post here at High Point University if it wasn't for that experience. I am extremely proud of what I accomplished while being there and would go there over and over if it means saving my life like that.

One of the most important things so me is my girlfriend, Mariah. She has been there with me since day one and has never left my side. We have been friends for years and she has always been one of the biggest support systems I've had. She always stood by me even in my worst of times. I value loyalty above all else and she has been loyal to me since the beginning. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her. She is a senior in High School this year so she hasn't graduated yet. We love to go hammocking together and to be on the boat. She loves being on the lake and surfing with me. She is a very special person to me in ways far beyond just being boyfriend and girlfriend.
