They started out with Sean going frist talking about Eli Whitney's invention of the cotton gin. Eli Whitney was an American inventor that invented something that was unseen at that point and started using a concept of mass production. This product was a revolutionary piece of machinery at this point in time. The creation of the cotton gin led to mass economic and social effects. The cotton gin separates fibers from the seeds.
The next person that spoke was Bella about Fort Sumter in 1861. The battle of fort sumter was the first battle of the Civil War. It was one of the main battles of the entire war. It occured from April 12 - 13, 1861. It was extremely outnumbered with the Union only having 80 soldiers and the Confederates had around 500. One person who was very popular at the time for an advocate on slave's rights was given the honor of firing the first shot for the Union. The Confederates ended up winning over powering the Union and defeated them.
Finally was Ryan with the Negro Act in 1740. The Negro Act was passed in the Province of South Carolina. It was passed while Colonial Governor William Bull was in office. This happened in response to the Stono Rebellion in 1739. Making it illegal for slaves to move abroad, assemble in groups, raise food, earn money, and learn to read English.
